Since the news is filled on a daily basis with stories about how evil conservatives are, and how we're ruining the planet, be watching this site next week for a series called "On Being a Green Conservative" where I'll review my thoughts, beliefs and reasons why the nature of conservatism is paramount to actually living green, rather than just complaining about it (read: Al Gore). Many of you are probably wondering why I don't talk more about other things. But dangit, it's my soapbox! On a trip to Phoenix recently I found myself pondering why heat-pump technology more readily available in homes in the US. We use energy to cool our homes in the summer, and again to heat water inside the same home. Why isn't the energy just transferred from the air conditioner to the water heater, or to the pool? IBM is taking a similar approach to what hard-core PC gamers have been doing for years- using water to cool their processors. But IBM is finally listening , and is proposing a radical concept. |

I'm gonna have to just make a new category just to track the bad science known as Global Warm... er, Climate Change. It seems that now people are in arms about the Olympic Torch contributing 5,500 TONS (yeah, TONS) of CO2 to the atmosphere. The claim is based on the 'fact' that burning a gallon of jet fuel creates... are you ready for this? 23.88 POUNDS of CO2 . Now, I know I've gained a bit of weight over the past two years. But how does a gallon of jet fuel, a relatively lightweight liquid, manage to gain so much weight when burned that it's output of a single compound gets to be nearly 24 pounds? This is going a bit beyond the insane. Something must be done to stop this bad science. |
